University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU)

The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) has extensive experience in mountain ecosystems, recreation and conservation planning and transdisciplinary research. The Institute of Landscape Development, Recreation and Conservation Planning (ILEN), engaged in CaucaSusT, is highly involved in sustainable tourism research and development projects, as well as integration of all population groups into nature protection and protected area management.

Doctoral School of Sustainable Development (“Doktoratskolleg Nachhaltige Entwicklung” dokNE) has been established as the first structured doctoral school at University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) in 2007, in order to support and promote young scientists in sustainability research.  To-date it remains the only doctoral school in Austria with a specific focus on sustainability. Experienced gained from dokNE will be applied by BOKU ILEN in the CaucaSusT project.
